About the event
On 21 February, we gathered for Political Dumplings – Talks & Collective Cooking with Bordered Lives, a political kitchen for practices that unsettle the logics of nationalism and fixed identity. Together, we opened a temporarily held, transliminal space for imagining transnational solidarity.
Our invited panellists traced distinct yet interconnected border-crossing trajectories:
Mita reflected on borders, state-building, and liberatory possibilities through the politics of food in and around Indonesia, which you can read in full here.
Dorothy unfolded the misrepresentation and fluid identity of “Pak Choi” through her filmmaking and translation practice.
Misha called for situated solidarity by sharing his writing and curatorial work on hyphenating the “two Souths.”
